Tunisian Minister of Public Property asks state litigation judge to monitor “Panama Papers” case
The Minister of Public Property and Land Affairs, on Wednesday 6 April 2016 , sent a note to the state litigation judge, asking him to monitor the “Panama Papers” case.
According to a statement from the department, the case will be monitored “in co-ordination with the concerned services at the Central Bank of Tunisia and the Ministry of Justice” to preserve the rights of the Tunisian state and the national community.”
The note provides for taking all appropriate measures in light of the progress of the investigation whether regarding the names mentioned in the Decree-Law No. 2011-13 of March 14, 2011 on the confiscation of property or any other person involved.
Minister of Finance Slim Chaker had also published a note on Wednesday 6 April in which he called to mobilise all necessary means to ensure the effectiveness of the investigation.
Conducted by 378 journalists from 77 countries, the investigation covered 11.5 million documents of Panama’s business firm specialising in the establishment of offshore companies “Mossack Fonseca”.
128 political leaders and twelve heads of state or government, including six still in office would be concerned.
